Evil VMware.

Mental note - just because you think something is SLOW, do not.. DO NOT assume that upgrading to the latest and greatest BETA version of software will fix things.

Lo, it will not.

By the way, in case you're wondering, VMware server 2 beta is definitely still beta.  At least I was smart enough to make a backup.

SaaS - good or bad?

I've had the ongoing battle in my own head about why I must find my own version of webapps, rather than just use someone else's.  Then I read this article (eWeek) and find out that maybe I was on to something.  More of my opinionating after the jump.  No, it's not a word.  Shaddup.

The topless meetings

I originally was totally against the growing trend at work for not allowing laptops in meetings.  That was partially because I actually WAS taking notes on the laptop.

However, after working with people that are far too 'connected', I'm beginning to agree with this sentiment.

And shame on you for finding this link just because I said it was topless.

(Comic from sinfest.net - read it.  now.)

I want a ball pit

This is an oldie, but I still want to do it.

I want a Ball Pit.  How much would that rock?  But, I know how much it'd cost!  A lot.

Don't care.  When I get an office, I'm TOTALLY doing this.

Returning from Thanksgiving

We have returned!  And only mostly tired, a few pounds heavier (at least in my case), and MUCH more spoiled (in the little one's case).  And we even missed the snow.

Testing the system...

So, I ran across a site a few weeks back, called Get my FBI File. Their premise is that they will help you write letters via the Freedom of Information Act and Privacy Act to various agencies to get your records. Seemed like an interesting idea, and as their subtext reads: "because if you don't ask, you'll never know."

I decided to try it, both out of curiousity, and to see how long it'd actually take to get responses. I'll document it all here.

Final Thriller

Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within takes on Michael Jackson's Thriller (from Digg)

HA! I'm probably too much of a geek to not like this.
