Accomplishing weekend

Got a lot done.. cleaned both B's and my offices, got Fiona's desk and chair set up for her computer, and put together the last bookshelf to store some of the magazines and crap that was on my office floor.  May not seem like much, but I've been trying to clean my office for months (if not years).

Huberisms

If you ever hear Hubersan yell, "Holy cow!!!" and then cackle with pride, he pooted.

Scary

Halloween was scary this year.

As many times as you think I'd learn, we went to Traildust for dinner.  The original idea was that we'd be out of the house while the annoying kids on the street ignored the 'if the light's not on, don't knock' rule and pissed off the dog.  Plus, to make up for it, they have the cool slide for Fiona.

We had neglected to remember the:

  • Way too expensive food
  • Fairly mediocre food
  • REALLY annoying live band that shouldn't quit their day jobs

Oh well.

Stupid priorities

I FINALLY FINISHED MY DEGREE! (well, at least, I've finished the last requirement for it - I don't get the official paper until December).

So, why not congratulate myself with some new games?  Like, oh, say, Fable 2 or Dead Space?  (well, maybe not Dead Space yet - def not a kiddie game)  Lo, no.  I must be responsible and work around the house.

Stupid growing up.  I don wanna.

Rickrolled in real life

So, we're sitting at California Pizza Kitchen, enjoying lunch.

And Rick Astley comes on.

Before I come to realize it (I took stupid pills today), B looks over and says "We're being rick-rolled!"

Never did I think it'd actually happen.

I've been immortalized in song!

In case anyone wonders if I am famous, one only need to find the rarely known lyric to the old faithful "Old Macdonald:" (as rendered by a certain three-year old)

"...and on that farm he had a daddy... EIEIO..
with a POOT POOT here and a POOT POOT there..
here a POOT there a POOT everywhere a PEEUUUU..
Old Macdonald had a daddy.. EIEIO!"

There's always a silver lining somewhere.

So, I've been griping this morning about the number of hours I've been having to work.  I'll be damn near 60 hours for this week by the time it's over (assuming I DON'T have to work after hours any more).  And the biggest complaint is that it's doing SOMEONE ELSE'S WORK, not mine.

But, I've realized, that there is always a silver lining.  Mine, in this case, is loopy time.

These times don't come THAT often, but when they do, it's always amusing (at least to me).  B accused me today at lunch of channeling Robin Williams - which I have the feeling he wouldn't appreciate, since he's still alive.   When these rare events come,  it's almost as if my logical brain says "THAT'S IT I QUIT!" and the creative/logical brain says "wheeeeeeeeeeeeee!"  Not only am I loopier than crap, but I tend to appreciate music, art, etc more.  I also tend to get more work done in this mode for some reason.. I don't know if it's because there's inherently a creative component to engineering or what.

So, if I don't wind up getting sent home for being crazy, today should be a better day.

Come watch the Huber show.  It'll be one to TiVo.

The funniest blog I have seen in a while.

Del's Wife's blog is NSFW.  But that doesn't stop it from being freakin' hilarious.

Here.
